I’m having one of those “so much has happened I don’t even know where to start” moments and so I decided to just start with that. When we last chatted, I was playing catch up on all the work I missed after my computer fell down on the job. Our week then took a sharp turn into OMG IT’S TOO HOT WE NOW LIVE IN SATAN’S ARMPIT. Well. Then there were storms and lightening strikes which were quite the sight to behold but also…dang. Now there are hundreds of fires all over California and we’re just really sad about all of it.
Guys. This is a lot. It’s a lot for one week even if we weren’t already processing…well, everything else.
It’s so much that I really feel like reading this article will help you. It helped me. OUR BRAINS HAVE TOO MUCH TO PROCESS THANKS 2020. So. Yeah.

Ok. Let’s find some joy. (It may or may not be a bit *sarcastic* joy this week. Ahem.)
➡️ Let’s start with 2020 expectations versus reality because this kid GETS IT.
➡️ Also, this little lady is all of us. And well, I’m pretty sure my house is sick of ME so…

Earlier this week, I asked Best Friend Sarah for help in “filling in the gaps” of memories I have from high school. This is completely normal for our friendship since only one of us (Sarah) remembers most of this crap so as I write about certain events, this is a common occurrence. As luck would have it, strolling down memory lane somehow led to finding a box of notes. The handwritten, passed to each other after class kind of notes. (Apparently this makes us old. I find this statement to be quite rude.) Anyway, tucked between all the ridiculousness that was high school Sarah and Jill, she had somehow saved an order ticket from when I worked at Godfather’s pizza.

(Who knows why and yes we are so weird, but stick with me here.)
Since I only seem to remember the strange things, I told Sarah about how seeing a picture of a pager (yes, a pager) the other day brought to mind a memory I hadn’t thought about in YEARS. There was a delivery driver that worked at good ‘ol GP when I did and I distinctly remember his girlfriend PAGING HIM every time their song came on the radio…complete with which radio station it was playing on so he could tune in from wherever he was. There is so much to unpack there and I’m trying to not think about how old that story makes all of us sound but you guys? That memory made me laugh so hard during a week that just really needed it. WHAT EVEN WAS OUR LIFE BACK THEN.
So…in honor of the cheesiest (heh…pizza guy) couple award from back in the day, may I offer the latest addition to the Ridiculous Joy playlist:
May it bring you to a simpler time. Filled with pagers, pizza and…well, ridiculous amounts of joy.
Make it good, boys. (Please.)

P.S. As always, the entire playlist is below. Because this is what we do.
