✨a message of joy✨
I made an executive decision here at Ridiculous Joy headquarters several weeks ago that you may or may not care about: Love Notes are officially moving to a Wednesday agenda item and also I took a long break from sending them but I never told you so you may not even remember that they were originally supposed to be sent on Mondays. So here we are on a very random Wednesday in June with a Love Note just for you…and a tiny little switch up to the format that I didn’t tell you about either. (Um…hi. This all might look different. The end.)
SPOILER: I’ll still be obnoxious about joy and things that bring me joy.
The one* worry that I have about all of my spouting off about joy is that it is relatively one-sided. I do love hearing about what is bringing you joy. I love seeing your joy. I love that we can be on this joy-journey together. So, maybe, if you feel so inclined, would you tell me what’s bringing you joy this week? We can comment and chat below…meet up over on Instagram…sing each other songs. I DON’T KNOW GUYS BUT WE HAVE OPTIONS. And I just want you to know that your joy brings me joy.
So let’s get started...
*that is a lie. We all know I have lots more worries than one.
✨seeking joy✨
What I am watching, reading and listening to
My husband was out of town last week and I took that opportunity to watch movies and shows I hadn’t seen in years. (Or movies I *thought* I had seen.) I stumbled upon Sliding Doors (a movie I’ve loved and one that influenced several short haircuts of mine) and then continued the Gwyneth theme with, what I thought was, a re-watch of 1996’s Emma. Except, as I watched, I realized I had never in my life seen the movie Emma. (Good news: I thoroughly enjoyed it.) Anyway…I’m a real big dork. Here’s what I’m watching, reading and listening to this week:
📺 Watching: Emma…and tons of Big Bang Theory. (Hi, my name is Jill and I watch and re-watch shows and movies over and over again.)
📖 Reading: (almost) every summer I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - which just took me nine years to type but a book I truly love. My copy is worn, torn and waterlogged (and yes, I do also have it on my Kindle) but it’s officially Guernsey season, y’all.
🎧 Listening: sometimes I forget how much I love John Mayer. This week I was reminded. Again. Please join me. (And this album turned 10 last month.) (HOWWWW)
✨joy from the internet✨
WE BACK. And I seriously had to edit things down a TON because there was so much, you guys. Also, shout out to the lovely Nora who sends me the internet things bringing her joy. (A few for your enjoyment: #1, #2, #3.) Let us keep that joy rolling:

😍 A timely reminder:
✨ moments of joy ✨
things I don’t want to forget
my backyard is ridiculous…and difficult to manage sometimes. But there is something so delightful about early morning fruit gathering. (When it’s not a complete pain in the ass.)
✨ ridiculous joy ✨
the icymi on IG kind of joy
☀️ Intentionally seeking joy in the mornings…even when you don’t want to.
☀️ This week’s TMSG where we talk about friendships, fighting for joy…and truly being seen
☀️ What lights your soul on fire?? 🔥
✨ a joyful heart ✨
Just a few things that caught my heart or my faith this week. (And maybe one funny.)
🎧 This is an old podcast but was recently sent to me by a friend. It’s just a really neat story of stepping out in faith and declaring truth over your life.
our daily prayer for the week…
Our Father
Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens; your faithfulness stretches to the sky. Lift us by the power of Your Holy Spirit to participate in your goodness and bear witness to your loving-kindness in every move we make today. Amen.
Well…this was quite a journey and a lot longer than I emotionally prepared for. I’ve missed it…and missed all of you. If you’ve made it this far, you deserve a medal.🏅
Have a great week…love you all!
💛 Jill
p.s. I’ve been listening to the Ridiculous Joy Playlist as I get this ready to send out. The shuffle has been perfect and I think I’ve fallen in love with it all over again.
p.s. x2: this book really has been through it with all my summer readings. And this is my second copy of this book. (Yes, even though also have it on Kindle.)
