Love Note #89: the halftime report
Hey everyone, take a knee…Coach Jill here.
We’re not even to halftime yet and we’re getting our ass handed to us. It’s like the other team wants it more and we’re all acting like we’re just fine with that.
But that’s alright, that’s alright. We’re not gonna get caught up in all the nonsense of how we got here, we just know that we gotta move forward. We’re made of tougher stuff - I think we forgot that for a bit and that’s on me. The other team distracted us with their bad news and negative tactics and we lost sight of the good kind of joy we all need.
So here’s what we do: WE GET BACK TO THE BASICS. We take it all back to the simplest form. We remember our love of the game and why we play. We remember who we are.
And then we fight.
For joy.
Together.
As a team.
It’s not gonna be easy and there will be bumps and bruises along the way. But we can’t let the fear of getting hurt keep us from the game. Sitting on the bench isn’t an option.
We need to get a little loud and get a little wild.
And then we remember that we’ve got this guys. Really.
Let’s do this.
✨Song of the Week!✨
I didn’t exactly set out to write a newsletter in coach/pep-talk form but here we are.
So we might as well have a song that matches our enthusiasm, right?
✨JOY From the Internet!✨
➡️ Back to basics indeed:
🍪Yup:
🦆Ducks, amirite?
🍌These are the questions that linger:
💛 Ask for what you need:
😍: (aka - I love CA)
🐶: (sometimes you just miss your dog)
😬 Finally, THIS emoji. I’ve committed to using it more because it brings me so much joy:
✨Inexplicable Joy✨
Just a couple of things that caught my eye these past few weeks…
☀️ You are not alone:
☀️I don’t know who else needs to hear this but:
☀️ A little prayer for the week:
Our Father
Lord, please remind us of what we already know. May we get back to basics, back to remembering YOU and fighting for the JOY that only You can give. Amen.
I hope you guys have the BEST week. Love you all!
💛 Jill
p.s. Last week was my birthday. And I escaped to Disneyland with some of my favorites and it was so full of joy that I had to document it here somehow.
Thank you for understanding.
