I just put on my first Christmas movie of the season.
I honestly don’t know why I waited so long (it wasn’t on purpose) but I gotta tell you: my evening just got a lot more joyful. In the most ridiculous way, of course.
I didn’t pick Elf to watch. I didn’t pick the Santa Claus or Home Alone. My kids are now home so I picked a family favorite that never fails to make us laugh: Daddy’s Home 2.
You may remember me talking about this favorite last year and I still don’t know what to say for myself AND YET. Here we are. Newslettering. Fun Christmas movies on in the background. I got excited to have all my people home and I went with a crowd favorite to start.
NO REGRETS.
But in other news, it’s Thanksgiving week. I’m treating it like news because I’ve had to remind myself several times this week so I thought I’d remind you, too. Actually, scratch that. My sister had to remind me last week that we hadn’t even discussed what everyone was bringing. To my house. In a few short days.
Will my house be ready for everyone by Thursday? WHO CAN SAY.
Sure, it’s pure chaos but since we’re used to feeding a million people at any given moment at any family dinner, everything will turn out just fine. We’re A LOT…but we’re used to it?
More importantly: HOW ARE YOU? How is your stress level? IS YOUR TURKEY ALREADY THAWING?
(I only brought it up because the internet keeps worrying about it.)
I’m super grateful for all of you. I hope this week is more lovely and much less stress. May it be filled with gratitude and joy.
But if this season is hard, I pray that you know you’re seen and loved. I hope that there are glimmers of joy that light the way through.
Love you all…and Happy Thanksgiving.
✨Song of the Week!✨
When this song popped up on the playlist today, it just made me happy. It was the only option!
✨JOY in Real Life!✨
I have a favor to ask. But it’s fun. And it’s about friendship. And our dearest Sarah is doing research on happiness and friendship and while this is something completely new and different for the Love Notes I was wondering if you might consider answering a few questions. All for research! All answers are anonymous - and none are difficult! Click HERE for the questions!
✨JOY From the Internet!✨
◎Listen…we all need some joy from the internet as we head into the week. (Or at least *I* need it?) It felt right to start with this one:
◎And this one:
◎I think we all need a break from things happening. So I felt this in MY SOUL:
◎ I would use this cup. And it would make me laugh every time:
◎GUYS. Have you ever seen this way of drying your shoes???
◎ I don’t want to admit how many chapsticks I have to avoid this conundrum:
◎I can’t stop thinking about this sink. I don’t know that I’ll ever have a house where it would work BUT I WANT IT TO:
◎There are several funnies in this post from my friend, Jenny. You’re welcome:
◎Enjoy the rat pizza. (NO THANK YOU PLEASE.)
◎YOU GUYS. This story brought me so much joy today. I want to do this somehow. Bring joy to unsuspecting gas station patrons:
◎ I’m sure you’ve seen this clip from Adele’s performance but it have me ALL the feels.
◎ We don’t deserve dogs. I love them so much. And this was adorable. (And we happen to know the lovely humans attached to them.) It’s a zen but cute moment for you to enjoy!
◎ And then this made me laugh. Dogs are the dang best.
◎This spoke to my soul in a lot of different ways. Like a lot. A lot a lot. It feels funny ending on such a serious note but at the same time…it also just really matters.
✨Inexplicable Joy✨
Feeling grateful - especially after several days of grumpy. (Yeah, I said it.) And so the reminder of our community with God, and with each other, was perfect timing.
Our Father
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, our journey with You shapes our journey with one another. Let your tender mercies come to us that we may live again. Amen.
Love you all…have a wonderful holiday week!
💛 Jill
